Tuti

it still feels unreal that our usual days at school are finally over. i didn't realize that the school was ending because i was busy preparing for our final test.

a week before the tutkinnon tilaisuus, we were grouped into 3 and Stina assigned areas within the school ground, for us to work on. i was Maria and Mika. we checked our area, got to know the plants and weeds that grow there, then we planned what to do and what machines and equipment we were going to use in our work. we also visited to the school's greenhouse and chose the plants that we wanted to plant in one big pot in front of one building.

the first day of the tuti went well. the sun was shinning and we just worked as we normally would. there weren't too many questions from the teachers. we were satisfied and tired at the end of the day. i guess, that's how you know that you did a good job. we had a short meeting before leaving school.

second and last day of tuti. the school's gardener asked us to plant some daffodils. it was our last task as a whole group. i suddenly felt saddened by the thought that i'm not gonna see my classmates everyday.

okay. before i get sentimental, the last day of tuti is the actual test day. first came Kirsi and Leeni. i was working on one flower bed and they came and asked me about the plants and weeds that grow there, fertilizers, soil ph, bugs and how to treat them and so on. i wasn't able to answer their questions because it was so hard to say them in finnish when i was under pressure. so when they finally allowed me to explain in english, i felt so relieved!

next came Stina. she asked me to take a walk with her around the school yard. then she started to point at trees and bushes and asked about their finnish and scientific names. OMG!!! IDying plants is like torture to me! but in this case, i answered 90% of Stina's questions.

the next day, we had our assessment. after a long day at the UK visa center, i took the bus to school to meet my teachers. it was heart-warming to get such positive comments from them. i felt like crying when i was listening to what they had to say about me.

now that the tuti is over, i feel like 50% of my school burden has been unloaded from my shoulders. the first 9 months at school were not easy, especially when i'm still struggling with the language. i want to thank all my classmates who have been very supportive to me all throughout my journey at school. they translated things to me when i was in doubt, helped me in conquering my fear in driving tractors and just being there for me like real friends do.

now, as i start with my work practice, i will be facing new struggles but i know that i will also find new friends and of course, new and more knowledge about the world of greens. 🌱

Fasu turns four

Fasu is adding a year to her age. our sweet baby was as sleepy as usual in the morning, but became energetic as we prepared to go to the summer house. there she was able to play with Sipe. and as a birthday treat, we took her to the dog park in the evening.

paljon onnea, Fasu!

vappu päivä

today's weather forecast was good. in contrast to what it has been two days ago...

it's supposed to be spring, right?

thank goodness, we can put that kind of weather in the past. for today, it was sunny, +17 degrees! so after breakfast, we drove to the city and went to the tori, where people wearing white hats were gathered to celebrate vappu päivä. and yes, the tori was crowded with people, people selling food, balloons, flowers, candies and stuffs of all kinds. there were rides for the kids too.

we made our way to one italian pizza place to have lunch. we chose to sit outside to enjoy the sunshine and the food. oh, it was wonderful!

at 1pm, we drove to Hartola to attend my kummipoika's first birthday party. he has grown a lot since the last time that i saw him.

on the way back home, we drove around sysmä because i wanted to see the place. it turned out to be a nice drive. i love joyrides with my loves 😘
