Gru on Ellen

i don't know why, but i cried when i saw this video.

it's overwhelming to see my favorite animation daddy and ellen together.

i have so much respect for Mr. Steve Carell for being consistent in portraying Gru's character. Great job!!!

Friday rituals

i suddenly miss Felix and our ice cream ritual every Friday after school. we would just sit on the swing on a sunny summer day and enjoy the pleasure of doing nothing.

two and a half years later, i've developed another ritual with the pips at work. chinese food at chowking every Friday after work. noodles and rice and anime at midnight.

lights for peace

15,000 people are expected to flock at my alma mater, UP in the Visayas, this afternoon for "the inauguration light of peace event in the philippines". the organizers want to promote world peace through inner peace. err, and they also want to beat the current record in the Guinness.

when i heard about this event, i felt super excited. i just love candles, lights and this event is over-the-top! a floating light! i mean, floating lights! i instantly thought of one of my favorite disney animations, tangled. that moment of serenity, when everything around you is so still and dark, and all you can see are the floating lanterns. it's as close as you can get to the stars.

there is no denying that this event will be amusing to everyone who will be present at the upv field. one can't also deny the skepticism of the environmentalists regarding this. concerns like, who will clean up the remains of the lanterns?; is it safe? is it not going to cause fire, considering that the neighboring houses are not built in concrete?; are the remains of the lanterns harmful to animals?

i hope that the organizers have carefully considered those issues, and that they have properly instructed the volunteers on what to do.

i think this is a very special event. i don't want to be clouded by other people's doubts. i believe that everyone who will be there is responsible.

light a lantern for peace!

tirukaka kurukuru

a baby lizard fell on my nape a week ago while my friend and i are waiting for a ride home. it was the most gggrrrr feeling!

i told my friends about it the morning after. and right then and there, while we were walking along jm basa street on a drizzly day, berl played the "butiki" song to me. ugh! the song was as gggrrrr as the feeling when the lizard feel on me. there was no doubt that the composer of that song was possessed by the soul of the naughtiest lizard.

the day after that, andy gave me a copy of two Korean movies. i chose to watch "love phobia" first. and what a surprise! a lizard played an important role in the movie! great! my friends, really, have a great sense of humor!

Tirukaka Kurukuru Kantapia Saurus

i loved the movie anyways. it made me laugh and cry early in the morning. ahh, Korean movies and their Shakespearean endings!

Love Phobia

One sunny day, a young boy named Jo Kang met a curious young girl dressed in a bright yellow raincoat. She told everyone in school that she is an alien and whoever touches her or gets touched by her will be harmed. Everyone in that school got afraid of her except Jo Kang. Jo Kang befriended the girl, Ari, and fell instantly in love with her. Ari started telling stories to Jo and he believed everything she said. He did everything for her. One rainy day Ari lost her pet, Tirukaka. Jo did everything to find her pet lizard in the middle of a muddy field. Ari told him to stop looking for the lizard. They warmed themselves in Ari's yellow raincoat and instantly he gets affected by Measles. The next day, Ari just disappeared and Jo and his family moved to the city.

Ten years later, Ari contacted Jo Kang, now in high school, and asked to meet again. Although they have not seen each other in a decade, they had a wonderful time together. Ari told him that there are hot springs in her temple and the mountain is a volcano. Ari continued telling stories to Jo. She said her English got better by getting trained from an English ghost that visits her when she is naked, Jo believed her. She also told him that she will marry a banker so that she can rob the bank and leave the planet. Jo brought Ari her favorite dish from his home. He traveled the whole night to ask her father to make some sushi and brought the dish back to the temple as a surprise to Ari the next morning. She kissed her and Jo got affected by Flu. Ari disappeared once more, leaving Jo Kang devastated.

Jo Kang waited a very long time for Ari. One day Ari appeared in a bank where he was working as a teller. Since he was busy, he tied her leg around the chair with his shoelace. Later that evening they had sushi at Jo's home and Ari explained to Jo's father that people from NASA kidnapped her since the magnetic force in her body attracts the UFO's. Then Jo planned for something nice to do the next day, but Ari told him that she is leaving for the states. At the airport, Ari told Jo not to cross the line design, which Ari usually tells him to do since childhood.

Jo's friend got stuck in an accident and got admitted to the hospital. When Jo visited his friend he saw Ari. With pain and confusion, Jo visited Ari's Uncle (The Priest), seeking explanation. He discovered that Ari is suffering from AIDS that she got in a blood transfusion when she was a child, where she got in an accident, where her mom and dad died.

Jo designed a sign said to be left by an UFO in a grass field in order to fulfill Ari's destiny to leave the planet (which he believed). Then he brought Ari to the lawn from the hospital. Ari spent the last moments of her life with Jo while reminiscing their childhood.

In the final scene Jo explained the Aroma of love left by Ari. He still believed that she lives in another planet waiting to meet him again one day.

manggahan festival 2013

every summer, the province of guimaras gives everyone around the philippines a treat. this small island is the best source of the sweetest mangoes in the country. in a week long celebration of the manggahan festival, one can eat as many mangoes as he/she can for only 100 pesos. there are, of course, a lot of dishes to choose from in the food fest near the provincial capitol. there was even a mango pizza in one of the kiosks. a mango pizza! who would have thought of something like that? but it was creamy and delicious in its own way.

my housemates and i didn't let this festival pass. we took the 15-minute boat ride from iloilo to jordan and enjoyed the jeepney trip for another 20 minutes!

it's fun, fun, fun in manggahan!

kirayan's coral aquarium

the originally planned walk along the beach ended up with a calm (and calming) boat ride along Kirayan's shoreline. it was a cloudy and cool afternoon and it was a perfect weather to hang out with friends.

and for that, i'm thankful for my friends who are always there for me. i thank them for sharing their time with me no matter how busy they are.

thanks to mother nature for the nice weather ^_^

can i find Nemo here? or Dory, perhaps?

surprisingly quiet

i just finished my morning classes. the minute i took off my headset, i heard nothing. a vacuum of stillness. i doubted for a second if i lost my sense of hearing. then i went out of my room and called each of my housemates names. silence answered me.

where's everyone?

our bb house is always full of people. noisy people. this kind of silence has never happened here for a very very long time.

but, really! where's everyone?

enjoying my taebo company

it has been a week that i've been going back to the esplanade to join the taebo group. it's more fun, now, that andy and berl joined the group, as well. with andy, actually joining in the exercise and not just reading her manga and observing and commenting on our moves.

it has been extra special this evening, since berl and andy brought their friends, my sisters and niece and kyra joined me and we bumped into iris along the way when we were walking to the other end of the bridge. the riot was unbelievable! but it was fun running freely and crazily! i actually missed feeling the wind on my face and just being carefree.

when we were done jogging, we found a place to do some crunches. my niece rented a go-cart and my sister and iris joined her too. the rest of us turned the playground into a dance floor. we didn't want the nice music to be wasted.

ahhh! having fun just makes me forget about time. we all bade farewell to each other at 10:30 pm.

flipped moist chocolate cake

after a rewarding success from my battle with flour and baking powder last week, i ventured to another battle with them. this time, with the goal of making a moist chocolate cake.

epic fail! that's how the cake came out of the pan and i had to cover it before my best friend, who loves to capture my blooperous moment can take a snap of it. but i failed in that, too.

thank heavens for frosting! my housemates enjoyed this moist chocolate cake! i did, too! ^_^

^_^

it's been a while since someone has made me smile for no particular reason. a few days ago, i got a note that made me confused. but when i asked to clarify about what the note actually meant, i smiled...an unexpected smile.

oh dear god! not again!

cards and tofu @ chowking

back to chowking again.

i had doubts about staying up late last night. but berl had a sleepover/movie marathon with her friends and that left andy alone in her boarding house. so ggg came to her rescue and we found ourselves at our usual spot in chowking.

with a vow, to never eat chinese food without using chopsticks, we patiently ate our chow fans and siomai. the other girls, rhea-san, dona-chan, anne-chan, jolly-chan and her bf joseph-kun enjoyed their side dish that i'll never ever dare to eat even if it will cost the life of the lugay inside matot's tummy, tofu. (bluh!)

the rain was still pouring when we finished our meals. andy took out her cards out of her bag and begun to read our fortunes. i still have a trauma from her previous reading of my cards, which were all rotten. i let dona-chan shuffle the cards first. and her fortune was spread in front of all of us. her cards were....traumatic! you would have thought that she has a magnet for all the bad cards. after andy read her fortune, she opened up about her marriage, then asked for another round of reading. but her cards turned out all the same! scary!

i was next in line. oh, this time my cards were good! there was happiness, love, hmmm...some bashers on the sideline, but generally good! that made my trauma about cards fade a little bit. hahaha! but of course, it was all just for fun. we had a good laugh (as always!) and that's all that matters. that moment of happiness and connection with friends.

we ordered nai cha's, coffee and pineapple juice to cool ourselves down and said bye bye to the crew of chowking at 4 am.

i finally said good night to the breaking dawn as i hit the sheets at 4:30.

reunited with "the shadow of the wind"

i found mr. zafon's book online! omg!!! i feel so happy right now! i can finally sleep with my favorite characters again!!!

why, blogger, why?

i've been trying to upload some pictures here for the past days but until now, blogger is still refusing to post my pics. hmmm...have i reached the maximum number of photos that's allowed here?

or maybe, it's a wake up call to actually start writing again...?

but they say, a picture paints a thousand words, right?

i still want to say words through pictures.
